What students are saying about R
“This course has been very helpful in improving my quantitative research skills. Learning core functions like select, filter and arrange in tidyverse, has facilitated my data cleaning and dataset preparation, saving me hours on projects. The modules on data visualization are also impactful. I can now build compelling figures and graphics that make complex findings accessible to a broader audience. This course is also straightforward and easy to follow. I definitely recommend it.
I was apprehensive about doing R because I had very minimal experience working with code. However, with encouragement from faculty, TAs and an incredibly collaborative peer community, I was able to learn R and TA the following year. Using and working with R has given me invaluable skills, several job opportunities, and-my personal favorite--the ability to use data in new and innovative ways to better understand our world. As a woman of color who certainly received implicit and explicit messages about who codes and who belongs in certain spaces, I am grateful that my own journey provides a counterstory to who can code.
